I ha this happen with an AC150 a few weeks ago. Take the motor apart and check to make sure it isn't clogged. I did this for mine and even thoguh it wasn't dirty the moving of the impeller must have fixed it.

Agreed - sounds like a thorough cleaning might be in order. An old toothbrush comes in handy for this.

Sometimes the impeller will hang..just stick a toothpick or something down in there and "push start" it.

Every AC I have doesnt re-start unless you help the poor under powered things:mad: Every darn time even new ones:mad:
Thats why you buy other brands whos research department do real world research and properly power their filters.Bio wheel/sponge debate aside marineland prouducts allways restart after a power out ALLWAYS my ACs NEVER I like the ACs big basket and options that big basket brings but they power my 300s with MINI motors:rolleyes: cheapskates

I agree. My Marinelands (Penguins & Emperors) can always be counted upon to restart after power outages. Not so with the AC... and don't even get me started on Whispers....

WTH:confused: I've never heard of this, AC's not starting after power outage? Granted I've only been doing this for 2+ yrs, I have a 300 (had 2), 200, and 150. Never had a problem restarting unless the water level was way down, then it only took longer but still started. Now I'm going to be paranoid whenever there is a threat of a power outage:eek:.

Could it be that the filter is not level? I can understand the sticky impeller but not-re-starting just doesn't sound right. Let me add that I believe those that say it happens(ed).

I'm with you beviking...i have never had a problem with an ac filter ( i am using 5 of them at the moment)but i have problems with the emp 280 and 400 ,both have to be re-primed after power has been interupted, and they are a lot louder than the ac models.

The ONLY time I've ever had a problem with my AC's (and my 200 is 10 years old) is when it is really gunked up, then it doesn't restart after a water change. This happens maybe once a year... now I can see if it is gunked up and a power outage happens, I would be SOL, so thinking ahead I should really adopt a schedule of cleaning the impeller every 4 months or so.
