Hi, I am getting ready to upgrade my lights. (have OEM fish only) I am setting up a planted, discus 72 gallon bowfront (4 foot X16in high-after substrate, holding about 64 gallons after substrate- 3-4 inches of Onyx Sand.) I have purchased a fully automated CO2 system.
I am looking at the Coralife 260 watt planted tank hood. ( 4-21" -65 watt 6700K).I have read the sites on lighting requirements. My question is this:
Is this too much light (4.06 watts per gallon)? My thinking is that I will have enough light should I want some plants which require more light than the typical low light discus plants.
Any input appreciated.

It will give you enough light to grow anything. You may want to start with half and get the CO2, fert thing down before you turn all that light on. You will be trimming at least once a week.

i agree with rich311k. i would start with 1/2 the light until you get it down. co2 is good but you will also need ferts.

I agree. Start with less light and add more later. The discus will like this too. However, they will adjust to a lot more light then some people think.
