Here's the scoop:
I'm in the process of setting up a potentially toxic plant QT tank out of a ten gallon tank. The tank has previously been sprayed with insecticides, and had waited for a time period outside and then in a possibly fume heavy shed.
It was washed out wth a hose several times, then left to dry and it then stayed dry inside for a good time.
Before i filled it, I scrubbed it down with hot water, to remove the *majority* of the residue.
The Tricky thing here is that i've got to get this tank up by Sunday, and right now it just has a cheap filter w/ no media, and the three Quaranteed plants; two tiger lilies, and one onion plant.
I think i am going to go with flourite, its all thats availible for the timeframe, and its gotten a rep.
Keeping in mind these plants were QT'd because of algal issues, and some plants bear algae on them that could potentially endanger their existance, my question is, are there and INVERTS that i could put in there first as algae eaters, and secondarily as "canaries" for toxicity. Also, i need to be able to get them by sunday, so they should be fairly common like ghost shrimp or snails.
Thank you,
B.W.
