I have a coralife super skimmer and from my understanding it takes all the bad things out of my water and makes them into foam ontop correct? but all it does is fill up with water like every 6 hours i have to dump it out and clean it then put it back on. is that normal? my water can't be that dirty can it?

You have too much back pressure in the outlet tube. Look at this link and do a few cheap mods, you skimmer will run like a champ.
