I have had a male dwarf gourami for a couple of months who seems to be pretty ill in the last few days. He either lies on the bottom or props himself up between the glass and a plant most of the time. He has stopped eating and is losing his nice blue color. His tail fin seems to be frayed into 2/3 sections but is still intact and not rotten or bitten. Any ideas if I can do anything ?

^ those answers would help try and give you a steer.

btw do you live in Malahide ?

pics?

Pics would be most helpful for us to diagnose.

Tank mates are some danios, tetras and another male gourami which I realise can be a mistake. They do display aggression when their paths cross but I thought there was enough space (125 litres).

I will post water parameters shortly. Haven't lost any fish to date (4 months)

Two pics attached taken with phone so not great quality. He is mostly in a near vertical position like in the second pic.

He did eat a couple of flakes today but spat them out a few seconds later.

Coler, yes I do live in Malahide. BTW can you recommend any good places in Dublin to buy fish. I'm not fully happy with the health of the tanks in my local place.

I don't know about the eating probs, but melafix(wal-mart pet section) will do good for the fin. However, make sure you take out any activated carbon form ur filter. good luck

hey, try some tubifex worms, my gourami loves them, or you can feed him some tetramin betta tropical medley. I do that too, w/ my own blue gourami, in my avatar.

From what I've heard on other threads. Dwarf Powder Blues are very fragile fish and rarely survive for long in tanks. I was thinking about them, but I'm going to hold off for a while.

I'm sorry yours is ill and I hope he gets better.
