I am not sure why... but one of my red mushrooms has attached itself to the top of my red-leg hermit.
Its been living on its back for a month now and doing fine.
I am not sure if i should break up the love affair.
Maybe the mushroom finds the red-legs sexy????

It's not uncommon for hermits to attempt to attach sponges, corals, anemones, and even small feather dusters to their shells to act as camouflage. If the mushroom doesn't like this treatment, it will detach and drift off on its own.

My hermits are fond of feather dusters. They look quite strange with all of the dusters trying to feed off of their backs... sort of like a marine peacock or something. One has attached something off of the live rock, I am not sure what it is, but its green. Maybe he is trying to farm caulerpa! :D
