Can bumblebee gobies live on frozen BBS exclusively?

Baby brine shrimp (purchased frozen and thawed) is the only food that all three of my bumblebee gobies will regularly 1) recognize as food and 2) eat. As a bonus, the mollies they live with aren't particularly interested in them; at least, not as much as in their veggie flakes.

But I keep reading how little nutritional value baby brine shrimp have. I know BBS are better than nothing, but can bumblebee gobies live on BBS alone long term? They won't eat anything flaked or pelleted, and a bloodworm could land in front of their faces, fluttering in the current and they couldn't care less. But throw a few BBS in the tank and they all go nuts.

I'd really try mixing it up with some other frozen or live foods, I wouldn't feed bbs alone. Try some live worms perhaps.

Newly hatched BBS are extremely nutritious--they have their egg sack attached. After they absorb it though, forget about their nutritous value. Not too sure how old the ones that are frozen are. Have you tried frozen bloodworms? I always defrost in warm water with a good liquid vitamin added, then strained thru a brine shrimp net.

Actually, baby brine shrimp have a narrow window for nutrition value; about 8 hours. http://www.livefoodcultures.com/babybrineshrimp.html

Feeding any kind of animal one food isn't really a good idea. Just think how you would feel if you had to eat the same old thing every day. If you must feed just BBS, then soak them in something like Vitachem.

I know bumblebee gobies prefer live food. But, outside of the random mosquito larvae crop (it is Texas, and it has rained a lot), I can't imagine going into the varmint culturing bidness for three bumblebee gobies. Ruben, is there somewhere to buy small quantities of live fish food? It wouldn't be difficult to supplement their junk food diet with live food once a week, if I knew of a source.

I have tried bloodworms, Pufferpunk. And I discovered that a bloodworm could land smack dab on each one of their heads every day for a week and they could not possibly care less. So, I gave up on bloodworms. Luckily, the other fish dig 'em.

Vitachem--I assume that's a liquid vitamin for fish, Nolapete, like Pufferpunk mentioned? That would get some vits and maybe some minerals and other micronutrients in them, for sure. Sounds like a good stopgap solution. But even frozen/thawed BBS in Vitachem probably wouldn't supply many calories or much protein...right?

Depends on how quickly they were frozen after hatching.

Always best to introduce live bloodworm first then frozen

my bb's eat all sorts, bloodworm, daphnia, chopped muscle, brime shrimp
and livewhiteworm ( which is easy to cultivate and good for a treat )

but like others said you cant beat adding liquid vitimin suppliment to any frozen foods especially for fussy fish :headbang2:

And where might I procure live bloodworms? I supposed I'll have to read up on cultivating live whiteworms, although the girl in me says <ew> to that...
