I noticed this morning that my danios were more active then usual ( is there such a thing lol) anyway so i stopped to watch them and noticed that two of them were colored up, had more red in them and one was not and the other two were chasing her, so i presume they are trying to breed. my ? is I have a 5g tank not being used, should i put the three of them in that tank, then if they lay eggs, should i then take them out, i read they will eat thier own eggs. i would like to try to raise thier fry. any suggestions?

Go buy enough kid's marbles to fill the bottom of the 5 gallon with a layer or two. Fill it about 1/3 to halfway with tank water and put a glass top on it. Add the three of them and wait a day or two. If you can put the tank on something where you can watch from underneath it, you'll be able to see all the eggs. The marbles keep them from being able to get at the eggs. They like to have caviar while mating. Don't feed them while they are in the breeding tank.

Once the female looks like she's not full of eggs and they go back to normal you can put them back in the other tank. Leave the marbles in and fill the tank up. Add a heater. Culture some infusoria. Once you get this far, ask some more questions.
