My Comp is breathing heavy and the anal fin appears to be rotting. I guess it could be a bite wound but I dunno. I would take a pic but he is very fast and all I have with me is my phone.

Some quick info:

Weekly 50% water changes
PH - 8.2
Nitrate and Nitrite and Ammonia are all 0.
Tank temp is 80F

I added some salt to the tank, any suggestions?

Can you quarantine the Compressiceps? I'd do that if possible, to reduce its stress while the fin heals. Also, it never hurts to treat with Melafix or Pimafix. Along with super clean water (extra water changes), either of those meds will help to prevent secondary infections, and also help the fin heal faster.

What's up with the 0 NitrAte? You should have a reading on that . . . .

^ 0 nitrate is not right in a cycled tank. Double check your parameters with a good liquid drop test kit.

I suspect the CAE as the culprit if it is a bite wound. I doubt its the frontosas.

Super clean water and melafix will help prevent any progression/secondary infection.

Added salt but it's not getting better. This pic was just taken today.

it sounds like aggression to me. fin rot will affect the whole fish, not just one fin, namley one that the CAE will easily reach.
