Welcome to the Aquaria Central marine board guess who quiz discussion and rules thread.​

I shall be running a guess who competition over the various marine forums including General, Newbie and Reef. You will be shown a snippet photo of a Coral, Fish or invert and its down to you to guess what it is.

Please use this thread to discuss these various internal competitions that i shall be running here. All feedback is good, especially contructive critisim. Any comments that could make this better, more fun or interesting, post them here as this will be under constant review.

A few little rules and guildelines..


  • Please try not use google
  • The correct answer is to be the full name
  • The first post that displays the correct answer, Wins
  • There will be 2 pictures per week, time permitting.
  • The pictures that will be in the Marine Newbie section will be tailored towards new aquarists who are just starting out only, and not geared towards advanced members.


Please remember, this is not only here for a little fun, but also to help the members to learn different corals, fish and inverts.

Start discussing now while you wait for the competition to start. Start date will be announced on friday 13th July

Sounds like a good idea. I'm thinking though, how about more than 2 pictures? Either that or 2 pictures but more than weekly? Just thinking about the different time zones and things like that.
 
Nothing like learning a bit of knowledge the fun way. But I agree with 5xevy more than 2 pictures would be good. Could we also send in suggestions of our own corals (to the mods rather than posting all over the thread) that we're not sure of as this would put all the questions/answers in one place rather trying to search through the different posts.

Yes, thats a good idea about the ammount of pictures..am very flexible here....and i shall try my best to get the post up in the middle of all time zones...or as close as i can to the middle...Thanks 5XEVY

the only trouble with sending in your own, is that it rules you outta the competition, as you already know what it is and would not be able to take part....however, if that is how you choose, then, its fine by me... Thanks CPD

lol..nah, i would not be expecting a full latin name here....i am a stickler for having things in plain english, that everyone can understand, rather than the names looking like a roman pudding or a salad....Thanks Grins

How can something have "80 Billion" common names? a fiji damsel is a fiji damsel... Blue and yellow damsel are obviously different, as they are different colours...

The reason i said that about the latin names as it will lead with arguments over the exact name and spelling..its happened far too many time...Keeps things easier for everyone as its justa little fun..
