Well...ya hear about it but never see it..til today.

About 9 AM I noticed 'book standard' mating behavior in my 30G w/ 6 GF. It appears I have 4M, 2F. One of the females was getting constant 'attention' from the males...often one on each side (also by the book). She looked pretty worn out already. Looked like she was trying, but nada.

2.5 hours later...still going on. Have not seen any eggs released. She looks REALLY beat. Males still horny as ever. The other female is getting slight attention, but not much.

I've never seen it before...how long does it last?
Should I do ANYTHING? I could pull her out for a few days.
Maybe it's normal...or could she be eggbound?

The things ya do for a bucks worth of (now huge) feeder comets :)

my fancy goldies would constantly do this in the springtime, however, like yours, they never released their eggs.

I would possibly seperate her from the rest of the group, if you have another tank of at least 10 gallons for a couple days.

If shes beat I dont think she'll lay eggs, but if she returns back to a healthy state and these mating rituals continue, then you can put a spawning mop into the tank. A spawning mop is generally a bunch of green yard tied to a sork and floated in the tank. Look it up in google.

They're leaving her alone, but she's hiding in the corner behind the filter. Persuaded her to come out, but she got chased and went back. Will see how it looks in the mroning...may move her to her own place for a few days.

New 70 starting tonite...media and gravel cvcling...might just move her in there (and watch params, of course..) Also have a ~20G storage box that I've used before.

Thanks for info LF...not 'trying' to breed...but hey...free fish are always good. Was thinking of making some spawning mops anyhoo...just for the heck of it. Might just try it.
