It would be much easier to shop around on the internet or at your lfs to find out what kind of fish you really like. This souds like "i deffentely want a dog but I don't know which
brand"
And in this case it sounds to me like "I've got a tank but I don't know what to do with it, there should be fish in it, but what"
No offence whatsoever, please don't get me wrong.:(
I mean, 10 people, 10 differend recomandations. :(
What are the most decisive points which will make you choose a specific species? (I hope this sentence works right)
Don't you have any preference like size, colour, shape, behaviour or something. You can go with almost everything you like in a 100
But that was not your question, was it.
I don't know what your tapwater is like, but I'd go with JD.
And if you like to see more than two or 4 fish, I would choose for African peacocks.

Hi,
Well it would depend on what fish you like the most. Do you want vegetarians from Malawi, or do you prefer the colors of the Peacocks? If you have naturally hard water that has a higher pH then I would say the Peacocks would be a good choice. If not then I would agree with Jimmy on this one the JD's are really nice as well and would make a great addition to your tank. My water is hard and alkaline and I like the Peacocks so that is what I have chosen for my 70 gallon tank. I believe it is wise to know what your natural water conditions are and then choose from there, it's harder to maintain the water parameters in the tank if you choose fish that like different water conditions then what you already have from the tap. I prefer to keep it as easy as possible, while others may enjoy the challenge of keeping fish that are harder to maintain, it's really up to you in the end. Good luck with whatever you choose.

get a pair of golden jaguars, they look so cool my LFS jsut got a pair and they are so beautiful
I agree that you should know your ph before stocking the tank, but if I remember correctly yours is ok. I do think a pair of jags would be quite tight in anything less than a 150 and even then need a divider to breed. I am in the process of getting another 90 running and I am going to put in five juvenile texas "escondido" and some silver dollars. After I get a breeding pair I will remove the superfluous fish.

100 gallons isnt enought for a pair of oscars... 130g minimum for the two...imo. make sure you research the fish prior to deciding... those oscars are going to be mighty squished in that tank, 75g's is enough for one oscar. good luck on whatever you choose!

ok before we just start firing off suggestions lets try and narrow this down.
anwser these questions and lets go from there -
do you want lots of smaller fish?
do you want fewer big fish?
do you want them to be very tame?
do you want them to be aggresive and flare at you through the glass?
do you want bright colors or do you prefer more subdued coloring?
do you want plants in the tank?
do you want just one species or several?
do you want to add dither fish?
do you want rare or easy to get fish?
anwser that and i can give you a ton of suggestions :)

then i suggest africans.
maybe tropheus they come in some stunning colours and while territorial are not really vicious.
or Malawi cichlids but they are a little more common than the tropheus.
If you want stunning colour you could try a discus tank such as 80gjoe has.
or some severum type fish they are farely peaceful.
a pair of convicts would breed like crazy for you if you get a male and female.
or for less common how about some archocentrus Sajica they are relatives of common convicts but have really nice blue/yellow colouring.
or you could try a single green terror or jack dempsey they are stunning cichlids but are significantly meaner than the others I have listed.
thats all i can think of right now. Would be helpful if you could tell me what tank size you are talking about?
