(Unit...Tetra Whisper 30 w/filter and sponge)

Hello, I have a question maybe someone can answer from their own experience. It seems that my waters flow rate has slowed a little. Anyone know how to clean the unit to restore it to the proper flow rate? BTW...I replaced the cart and the water level in the resevoir is even so it's not a blockage problem from the filter/sponge. Thanks!!!!!

Tip it upside down and tap out the impellor from its well. brush the gunk off, especially whatever's wound round its shaft.

I have a filterstem brush I can gently spin down in the well. Amazing what's down there.

Is stuff backed up inside the siphon?

These little cheap filters are my mainstay.

I'd agree that it's more than likely the Impeller... If thats not the case, the you got a faulty fliter on your hands... :D

I hate Biological Power Filters lol

I agree also with the impeller issue. Also check the intake tube right where the impeller connects. Those holes get pretty full of junk also and slows down the flow. Also simple look at the High/Low switch at the top of the intake tube by the box. Make sure it didn't get switched to low. you can also pull it out make sure its not gooped up with junk. A good impeller test is pull the plug then plug it back in. Does the impeller start by it self or does it need help. If it doesn't start needs to be cleaned.
