For those of you who are unaware, you can get a free credit report once a year:

If you haven't done this all ready, do it. I get my report once a year. Yesterday I decided since there had been some recent activity on my own credit and I was getting ALOT of offers, so I went ahead and ordered it anyhow. I paid for this one since I could not get my free one until December. Boy am I glad I did.
There were two accounts that showed up on one of the credit agencies that should have been dropped all ready ( unfortunately I had a bankruptcy in 1995). In two calls they were taken care of, but the kicker was that one of them was showing up as open still. Also there are discrepencies between different bureaus. I have closed accts. that I chose to close and was in good standing, but one agency shows them open.
So... check your credit, ensure it is accurate, fix it if it is not and DOCUMENT all calls, dates, people you talk to. I have heard too many nightmares about this.
