some of my cichlids are locking lips, it kinda reminds me of rams locking horns. is this a terratorial behavour? or like establishing dominance, since they are both males? and should i separate them or just them do thier thing?

Try doing some rearranging of your tank, its not uncomon..What kind are they ? ......:)

they are severums in a 75g. we just put them in there though, both new to the tank.

All cichlids seem to do this, even my bolivian rams do and there wimps.

How many ?

Sounds like they are sorting each other out. once they have a pecking order they should be ok, so long as the beaten fish has space to retire.
