Searched and couldn't find much. I am having a hell of a time catching one of my red finned tetras and yellow tetra. I want to transfer to a different tank. My tank is heavily planted with 3 pieces of driftwood and countless rocks........so trapping them in the corner with a net isn't happening. Figured one of you might have some little tip that makes catching them easy :help:

Give them their favorite treat dangled at the surface (with a net in waiting)?

You could also use a small clear plastic cup with their fav food in it. Thats how i had to catch my danois.

Take a plastic soda bottle and cut off the top, then turn it around and put it back in the bottle and bait it. They will swim in the hole and will have a hard time getting out.

I caught a field mouse in my kitchen using this method before. I released it outside. It was too cute to kill. Rats on the other hand...god help 'em.

i must have really smart fish. the plastic cup did nothing. they wanted to but only picked at the outside trying to grab the food through the plastic.

lower the water level as much as possible, and use two nets if you have another handy.

I've always used two nets- one in front to distract/herd them, and a big one in back to gently scoop them out.

I bait my net and let it sit still until they can't control themselves, but it's rare I catch the one I want to catch.

also, I had really good luck by waiting until night when their lights had been off for a while, so theey were sleepy, and then netting.

I just try to corner them as best I can with the nets.
