Im doubting my water when thinking of having rams in the tanks. Would you say apistos would be better off because I know they can stand harder water than rams can.

Ok I just read up on them and I see they are ones that are critical of ph which needs to be in between 5-6 to spawn and usually no higher than 6.5 period. Im drawing blanks trying to find some new worlds that I can keep. I don't want any other old worlds other than lamprologus brevis or multifasciatus.

EDIT: after alot of contemplation I believe im gonna go with keyhole cichlids or bolivian rams. Just ignore this thread. I've made up my mind lol.

Actually Apistogramma Cacatuoides can probably handle a pH of close to 7.5 Mine are in a tank with a 7.0 pH (usually) and are breeding. Some of the Apistos are more sensitive to water conditions, but Cacatuoides for the most part are fairly hardy.

My tap water pH is normally about 7.8 but with the addition of CO2 for the plants tends to hover around 7.0
