Tonight I went to the LFS and purchased myself 2 more panda cories and, I thought, 2 female platies to accompany my male platy. Well, turns out one is female and the other is male, and now the males are being aggressive towards one another. I am such an idiot, but I really thought that they were both female :( So, now what should I do get 1 more female or do I need 2 more to restore peace to m tank? In my 29g I have 2 male swords and 3 females and everyone gets along great, is that generally a good ratio? Thanks :)

Try returning the male to the LFS and see if they'll give you a female. Call first so you don't waste a trip. Yeah that's an okay ratio with the swords, however i'd try getting one more female swordtail if you can.

the more females to males the better. a lot of people keep 3 to 1.

I would get some more females in the tank to restore the peace in your tank. It will help spread the aggression around so he is not pestering the same female all of the time.

I use the 2:1 ratio, but 3:1 would really keep peace. At 2:1 they seem happy in my tank.
