there are almost no words for something like this.
From reading the comments the fish are fed magnets and then the other piece is placed under the tank and moved.

wow, i just read through the comments, but i guess those werent posted yet.. Do you REALLY think they feed them magnets? I would think that would kill the fish because it would have to be a super strong magnet AND how would it NOT pin the fish down.
If they feed them magnets, that's just stupid.
It could be, though, if you watch his hands when they're above the fish's heads they still follow them, even though they probably can't see them
**They're speaking Japanese, the subtitles and voice-over are Chinese... :s***

I've heard of people feeding magnets to goldfish to get them to do "tricks", but haven't investigated it enough to know if that is a true and/or common practice.
Ick...Found a video of how it's done...made me sad... http://www.metacafe.com/watch/708938/howtotrainfish/

It doesnt seem to me they would be fed magnets, it really looks like their free swimming to me, would it be more, idk...wouldnt they look like they were being pushed around if it was magnetized?

That's so mean in my thought!!! Putting magnets in fish for entertainment, just doesn't seem fair for the fish. He can't possibly be happy with that magnet in his stomach. Poor fishy...

At the end of the video it said "Make sure not to hurt your fish". :screwy:
That is truely the working of the..... :FIREdevil:

They are not "fed" magnets. They have them shoved into their mouths. Yea, they follow the hand movements above the tank.... because those are carefully sychronized with the hand movements below the tank. If it were natural and real, it'd be amazing. The truth is that it is disgusting and an example of people playing with something because they're "just fish".

I highly doubt there are magnets involved.
Everytime I see this vid, people are saying magnets are involved, but no one has a shred of evidence, other than "hey, it's impossible to train'em that well!" ... "after all, they only have a 1, 3 or 5 (take your pick) second memory!".
Firstly, anyone who's had goldies before will know that they're pretty smart. Mine certainly knew exactly that the sight of me, opening the hood, meant food. (And no, I didn't feed'em every 5 seconds)
Secondly, after researching the "magnets in the goldfish" (dare I say it)... urban myth, I came across this site. Fish School (http://www.fish-school.com/)being the most impressive re: this topic. I don't see how magnets are being used in the vid on that site.

They are smart fish, but syncronized swimming smart, no.
1. expand your search.
2. watch Mythbusters.
3. review articles and "how to guides".
Notice how the bottom of the tank is not clear and the fish stay low? If they were trained, it would most likely be on food impulse which would mean then would be at or near the surface. They aren't. There are several videos of small magnets being force fed to goldfish. It wouldn't have to be a huge electro-magnet in my gut to get me to turn around, a tug would probably be enough...

I love how crazy all of you guys are getting. The truth about those fish is that is me in the video and there is no magnets its lasers. I make the fish swallow a piece of microlaserabsorreflectdiffuser and hanging from the ceiling is a super laser reactor programed and synchronized.
I'm sorry about the cruelty but my garage full of scientists say the gold fish like to do this.

it looked fake to me and since reading the comments as well as this one I feel like IF they did use magnets then it would be only fair to shove a magnet up their "***" and glue one to my foot!!
