Hey everyone, I've looked into cichlids profiles and these are the fishes that I came up with that I liked:
Acei
Yellow lab
Red Zebra
Pseudo. Saulosi (the males are awesome, not so the females...)
Cynotilapia Afra (cobue)
Pseudo. Demasoni
What kind of build could I go with these fishes?
1/2 male 4/5 female Yellow labs
1 male/3 female Red zebras
4 female Aceis
2 Male Saulosis
Any place for demasonis? If I can't go with only male saulosis I will need to find another great looking blue fish.

The thing is I want a very good mix of yellow and blue fishes with a bit of another color (red zebras maybe).
The labs are a given, but what else for blue and extra color? The male Aceis are great, I love their big dorfins and the blue color.
How about:
12 Demasonis
6 yellow labs
6 Aceis (can I go all male on these ones or is there other fishes that look like male aceis, more precisely, blue with big dorfins?)
3 Red Zebras

How big of a tank?
55G
Came up with this:
8 Yellow Labs
6 PS Acei
6 Afras
5 Red Zebras (1M/4F)
Doable?

Glad you dropped the demasoni - we have had a great deal of trouble with them, having lost 2, and a 3rd one getting severly beaten up. They are little fish with big attitudes, and tend to get themselves in trouble.
Hehe. Yeah I've went with a small group of afras instead.
So is this doable in a 55g? :)

the types of fish are a grate choice and should work well with each other i have a 55 gal with
3 red zebra's
3 aultarus
2 cobalt blue zebra
2 yellow fin acie's
1 white fin acie
1 kenyi
1 UNKNOWN mixed african
1 common pelco
totaling 14 fish i got them all at around 1 1/2- 2" they are now nearing 3 1/2 4" and the tank is starting to look a little crowded i could probobly fit maby 2 more fin in there befor i would consider it Overstocked even for an mbuna tank. you might have to cut your number's down a bit i would look up and see what the max size of them is , in a well stocked 55 gal african tank i would suggest a total of 12-16 fish that have an adult size of 4''-6'' any lees and they will single out 1 or 2 fish to pick on alot any more and your just pushing the boundray's of your tank, yellow lab's typicly dont get as big as some other mbuna so with you haveing more of them that the other's you may be able to go 18 fish safely
Also Afras are only 3" max at adult size. Still a bit much of fishes hey?

i would sugest geting them at juvi just out og fry stage in a 55 they will seam tiny and out of place and you may thik you can fit millions of them in ther but ya i would cut your number for 25 fish down to around 18-20 they will grow with time and fill out the tank my fist tank i had. i packed it full of about 29 juvi's in about 7-8 months i had to split them into 2 tank's 1 i keep and added a 3 more fish the other i sold to my friend with the remaining fish the problum was that they dirtyed the watter so fast and so bad i had trouble keeping up with it and if i missed even 1 day or did not quite a big enouf % change they all would get sickly looking and start to show sign's of stress
PS. i also have a blotched marmalde cat so my total is 15 fish they are all fat and health vary active and begginging to get sevral breeding pair's

I would agree 18-20 would be a better number. Even with that stock its going to be hard to keep up with maintnance as long as your willing to heavily filter and do a LEAST 50% water changes weekly it will work out.
