I am considering getting a pair of pelvicachromic taeniatus for my 36g community tank. The stocking in there right now is : 9 cardinal tetras, 4 neon tetras, 6 brochis splendens, and a mystery snail. I have a very large piece of driftwood and numerous plants (java moss, lace fern, bolbitis, anacharis, and water sprite). My ph is 8.0, temp 79, amm 0, trites, 0, trates less than 10. Do you think that the dwarf cichlids would do okay with this community? How concerned about agression during spawning would I have to be? Please tell me if this just don't work as I don't want my neons to be sacrificial. Thanks!

You could try it, but sometimes they would try to take over the tank when they start spawning. It is usually best to separate the pair from the community when you intend on breeding them due to the reason given.
I see in your sig that you have an empty 29G, that would be sufficient for a pair of kribs (Min. 20H for a breeding pair).

actually a 20 long would be better than a 20H since kribs like more base area and swimming space. u could also add in a few other community fish with the kribs

I think I don't see any fishes getting hurt when the dither are zebra danios, although they are only a breeding pair (but they haven't spawned since their last spawn I'd say in Feb).
I just hope that the danios are fast enough -.- Once the pair starts up again.

what kind of community fish could I keep with the pair? The 29g is empty and begging to be filled.....I guess the africans in my 36g as a centerpiece is a bit of a pipe dream.
