Finally finished my DIY stand,:headbang2: it is constructed of steel angle and painted black. My tank is a standard 55 gallon. The tub in the center will somday be braced and turned into my sump/fug.

Now I need to get my lightin set up. My cousin is an electrician and he will help me so I can make something good.

now I need to start the tank up. I need some help on the best way to cycle the tank.

I have about 65lbs of sand, 30lbs being LS and enough RO water to fill the tank. I don't have my LR yet. I need to buy salt to mix with the water.I have four 200 gph powerheads; but I need to get some heaters and a PS. Should I throw a powerfilter on there to be safe? since they are relatively inexpensive.

I am not sure if it would be better to start cycling the tank now without any LR since it will be about one or two weeks before I get any, or if I should wait. I am not going to get all the LR I am going to be using at once. I am thinking of starting a cycle now with a little bit of LR from the chains, and then adding other LR as I get it.

What would the best course of action be? Should I start up the tank with my LS and very small amounts of LR or rubble, or should I wait until I can get more LR? Thanks for any advice. Feel free to critque my DIY stand. :)

yeah I'm going to enclose it when I set up the sump. I might use a 20 gallon tank too b/c that way I would have room for a QT tank on the same stand.

should I try to add all the LR at the same time?
