30g Reef start

hey guys,

I took a trip to the LFS today and picked up my first coral, a rock full of Xiena for only $30! I just have 1 question; how long will it be until I will be able to see growth and spreading? Lemme know what ya think!

p.s.: I added 6 mosaic turbo snails also

Some report the xenia growing like weeds. In fact it spreads so fast they often put it on a piece of rock away from others to help control it.

Xenia was my first coral. nice choice lol. About growth really depends on lights, water quality and such. I know I have had mine about 6 weeks or so and mine has about doubled in size. I have a 10g with Coralife 96w lights. Im also using the Kent Marine Reef Starter Kit which Im sure is helping too.

i would certainly try and keep it from propogating itself onto the surrounding rocks...could become a pita to control else...

Thanks for all the replies! I will deffenatly try to keep it from taking over my tank, but I would also like a littile bit more of it.
