I just fired up my 75 Gallon Oceanic "RR" tank this weekend. I'm using a 20 Long glass tank sump with Dolphin DP1200 return. The lighting in a custom made 4 X 110 watt VHO hood. The IceCap 660 ballast turned out to be water damaged (2nd hand tank) and was sent back to IceCap for repairs.
I added water slowly to the tank to avoid disturbing the sand.

I added 4 pieces of base rock from my established 25 gallon tank yesterday and also dosed the tank with 5 tablespoons of ammonia to start the cycle. I also started up the return pump and spread sand everywhere anyway!

I found a small leak in my return line right were it connects to the bushing that screws into the bulkhead (I didn't use enough PVC glue). I'm going to try and seal it with aquarium silicone. This morning I added 2 cups of sand from my 25 gallon tank to help seed the sand bed with bacteria.

But here's what the tank looks like now.

Not really. Its already starting to clear up. I can see the black back of the tank and the outline of the base rocks.
