Notes to self:

*Note1*: Do not open the canister filter while over the carpet, even if its turned off.
*Note2*: Power Strips do really burn up if water is poured on them while on.
*Note3*: No matter how many papers towels you use the carpet will still be soaked.

I made the mistake of siphoning my tank's water into the styrofoam box that my live rock shipment came in. It was sitting on the carpet next to the tank and slowly leaked nasty LR water onto my carpet. (probably a good gallon or two of saltwater) It took two full sized beach towels and one bath towel to soak it up. I sprinkled baking soda all over the spot, rubbed it in good and vacuumed it up. Good as new and pretty dry with no odors.

They don't work so well when dropped in a tub either.

True 'nuff!!!! I dropped my Razr phone into a bucket of FW while cleaning out some tanks. I tore my house UP looking for it for a couple of days... then found it in a bucket of water, 4 days ex post facto. Needless to say, it never worked again! Thank goodness for phone insurance!

hmmm....comedy of errors....

I have learned the hard way the it is best to always have a few towels around when working on the tank. I'm famous for spilling water.

A shop vac is an excellent investment. You can get a small one for not much money. They are great for sucking the water out of the carpet.
