OK - entertainment time.
I broke the aquastop on a Fluval 204 the other week. So I stuck another filter on there and disconnected the Fluval until I could get a replacement part.
The Fluval sat there with the lid off next to the tank.
I did some maintenance which involved unplugging the heater. When I finished I plugged the heater back in. Except I didn't. I plugged back in the Fluval... With the head off. No water.
When did I discover this? Three days later.
It is, of course, now toast.

Sometimes, as I am doing tank maintenance, I think to mine self, "Hey, wouldn't it be a good idea to take some masking tape and identify each cord plugging into the power bar... filter, light, heater...Then I wouldn't have to trace it back each time."
Then I think, "Why yes! I'll do that tomorrow! Right now, however, I think I'll have a tea!"
Maybe today will be the day.

So I'm not the only one... I even do similar stunts with the coffeemaker.
...what's newest is the word pillock...
I think we're all Bozos on this bus.

Yep--been there, too. Think the worst was spacing out during a water change here at work--I siphon into a 1 gallon jug, from a 5 gallon tank. Not paying attention to the fact that the tank was almost half empty...And about a gallon of water was on the carpet. Now I hold the jug, with one thumb stuck in the top. It's reduced the amount of fish water on the floor.

I found little plastic tabs that clip on electral cords. all my cords are marked with what they go to. Great help, I don't unplug what I dont need to and no "following" the cord to see what it goes

Great new word, Faramir, I've never heard it before.
punch - good idea on the tags, did you find them at a home hardware store? I'll have to look.
I haven't done that with my aquariums.... yet. But once, the dishes were piled on the kitchen counter with the plastic colander in the electric frying pan and I thought I was plugging in the kettle..... attached pic is what happened.

Yea, I found them in a home improvement catalog, They were for
lableing computer cords. Only prob. was they only fit the thin cords and not the thick, (which all computers have) but they worked for most of my fish stuff, except the lights. But I know if its not taged its the lights. For the life of me I can't remember what catalog they came from!

my "pillock" story involved the "all mighty Python"!! While ending my mainenance routine, I reversed the water flow, and thought it'd take a while for the tank to fill all the way so I'll go do a few things in the meantime. 5 minutes later, you guessed it!! Water hitting the floor........ACK!! So instead of killing time with getting a few other things out of the way, I wound up with twice the work.....every error is a lesson learned ;) :D ;)

Matak pssssssst, I believe I recall Childawg saying something about going to take a break and not coming back until around the 9th. Think anyone else can add that goodie to the glossary list? Mods? ;)
