I am not Canadian, but I have been there. Seemed nice. Might go again sometime.
I know us Austrlians hate it when New Zealand gets mixed up with $Aud, you'll go up to the counter with a 20c piece which is actually worth 15c :(

Nope. I collect them lol And since the American dollar and Canadian dollar are so close in value it doesn't make a difference.

American change is always treated at par in Canada. As for right now the US dollar is now taken at par most places too!
