So I looked at the new 29g tank lastnight which houses my pair on Convict Cichlids, and to my dismay i noticed the airstone in it wasnt working at full capacity. After checking the airstone, and using a different pump on it, i found it was the big double output airpump that wasnt working properly. So me being "mr fix it" just had to be me and take it apart. I found out that one of the rubber cups that is used for for pumping air had a slight tear to it. So after looking around the house for about 30 minutes, i decided to get the electrical tape out of my car. I put a piece of the electrical tape on each side of the tear, used a lighter to heat it up and melt it a bit to the rubber cup. I covered the tape pieces with aquarium sealant, and so far no problems with the pump.
I figure why go out and spend $20 for a new airpump when i have all the stuff in the house to fix it. YAY ! ! ! !
