Hello all.......I'm a long-time lurker, first time poster looking for suggestions. I have a 65 gal. tank ( 36" long x 18" deep x 24" high) stocked with tetras, otos, and a peckoltia. I have a Rena Filstar 2, and am going to add a second one. My question is - how would you place the intake and return on these filters? Currently, the intake is on the rear of the tank in the middle of the wall and the return spray bar goes from the middle to the corner. Would you put the new filter's intake in the middle as well and run the spraybar to the other back corner? Or put the intakes in the corners with the spraybars across the whole back? Or something completely different? Thanks for your help!

I always put the intake and spraybar on opposite ends of the tank. (IE: intake = back left corner, spraybar = right side blowing back across the length of the tank)

Since your going to have two, just for the sake of conversation, you have filter A and fliter B.
Id have filter As intake one the RIGHT hand corner with the spray bar in the LEFT hand corner.
Then Id have filter Bs intake in the LEFT hand corner with the spray bar in the RIGHT hand corner.

Thanks eveyone.......Opposite corners makes sense. As far as flow direction, how would you position the spraybars? I figure put them on the sides, with the flow going across the length, but with both directed towards the middle and angled slightly UP to increase surface agitation? Or maybe one pointed towards the middle and angled UP, with the other pointed towards the glass and angled DOWN to create a circular flow? Thanks again!

I'd have them pointing directly at each other, that way you'd avoid a 'whirlpool' effect. One pointing slightly up and one pointing slightly down would be fine. Keep them about 1/2-1" below the surface. You want some of the current to flow to the bottom, as well.

I usually keep the intake mid-tank and the outflow pointed either near the surface, or towards the bottom.
