Social Rules

1) Game members only please in this thread. Watching is encouraged, but please do not post ideas, theories or anything else. You could have signed up, but nooooo.

2) This is a game. What is said in the game stays in the game. There will be accusations, incriminations, etc. But it's a game. If anybody gets too rowdy, I'll ask the mods to shut it down.

Never take things to a personal level.

This is a game, for entertainment only, play with enthusiasm, not hate.

3) When I declare it to be night, please don't post until 'morning'. You're 'asleep'.

Game Mechanics

1) Each 'day' everyone in the town (including mafia) can vote to lynch someone. You vote by saying (in bold)… I vote to lynch so and so.

If you decide to switch your vote, state in bold you are doing so and the new vote.

Do not put your vote in your signature.

2) Whoever has the most votes gets lynched. If you have two and everyone else has one vote… you get lynched.

a. The priority of lynchings is Townies, Vigilante, Mafia, and then Untimely Deaths.

b. The Doctor’s protection overrides any of the lynchings.

2a) If multiple people have the same number of votes, I will randomly decide which of those gets lynched.

3) You may vote to lynch no-one.

4) If you aren't active for two day/night cycles, with at least posting once, then you will pass away from some strange (probably embarrassing) illness that I will give you.

5) Everything stays in the game, no PMing people and setting up deals or alliances, or discussing issues in this game on other sites. The sole exception to this is the authorization by me for special role players to do so.

a.I STRONGLY SUGGEST THAT AUTHORIZED PEOPLE COMMUNICATE VIA AN OFF SITE MESSAGING BOARD LIKE MSN/AIM/ICQ.

6) You can say whatever you want in the game, but you can't 'prove it' with my PM to you.

Anyone can declare themselves the detective; indeed, I've seen mafia do so quite effectively for a short time.

The mafia wins when there is the same number of mafia as innocents. They can control the lynching then.

The innocents win if they lynch all the mafia.

If you have any questions, PM me. If it's important to all, I'll post it.

1) No one... except the mafia... is to discuss the game outside of the thread. That's kind of the point. If you are discussing things, then everyone else doesn't get the benefit of your deliberations. Think town hall rather than internet chat room.

2) DO NOT USE MY PM'S TO PROVE YOUR INNOCENCE.

3) THIS GAME IS NOT TO BE DISCUSSED ON OTHER SITES, THREADS OR CHAT, UNTIL THE GAME IS OVER.

The players are the townsfolk in the great city of ACville.

Some are Innocents; the remaining are Mafia; the Mafia know who each other are, and can communicate with one another.

The Mayor...works to find the Detective as they can rid the town of Mafia and to find other special role players. The Mayor can PM me once each game night with their suspicions and I will confirm the role the person is playing. Once the Mayor learns who the Detective is, the Mayor can PM the Detective. As a team, they can lynch a Mafia person twice. Their efforts should be to get the townspeople to lynch the Mafia. Both the Mayor and the Detective should PM me to confirm the lynch.

The Detective...investigates the townspeople to confirm Mafia identities, find other special role players, and find the Mayor. The Detective can do one investigation each game night by PM to me and I will confirm the identity.

The Doctor...has the ability to protect one person each game night. They do this by sending me a PM at game nightfall on who is to be protected that night. Be sure to protect the right person, Doctor! The Doctor can protect them self only on nights when the doctor has no votes to be lynched by the townsfolk’s.

The Vigilante...a total wild card...he can kill once per game by sending me a PM at the start of the game night. The Vigilante can be an Innocent or a Mafia, and strike against either.

The Don...has total control of the Mafia. He will PM me at the beginning of the night with the Mafia's choice of who gets lynched, EVEN IF IT IS ONE OF HIS OWN! He can do three investigations to me by PM, one a game night, in his efforts to find the Mayor, Doctor, Detective, or Vigilante. Should the Don be lynched, each of the remaining Mafia will have to PM me, and I will break any ties.

Now that 5 is over I have some things I think need changed.

Its not fair that the mafia only get 3 investigations to figure out 14 players roles. While the innocents got unlimited investigations by 2 people. Either the mafia get unlimited, 3 per mafia member or the innocents should also only get 3 for each investigating player.

Also maybe a mafia snitch can be added? Just throw 1 extra mafia player into the mix, of course only the snitch knows he is the snitch. Every night they PM Rb with who they want to snitch on and if they are lynched it comes out to the townies. This way the mafia must kill off one their own and hope they get the right one.

A daytime hit by driveby would be nice too so we can take out a player either for being a role player or just to cause confusion among the townies. In this case the identity shouldn't ever be revealed.

Just some thoughts.

Another thought...There were to many non votes, there has to be some kind of penalty for that. If you can't manage a vote or to even post you may as well not play.

I think a non vote should be automatic death, I also don't think a I vote for no one should be allowed.

I think the unexpected post was used when Zman said he wasn't so sure of DD as being mafia. He had been on top of her all week, it was so out of left field I was sure that was it.

rb, I put this in the #5 thread as well...

1) Good Game... thanks for running it.

2) the Mayor/Detective combo is too powerful. The mafia should win about half the time.

Either toss the mayor or give the mafia some help like:
A) more members
B) A Don that shows as innocent
C) a traitor
d) any two of the above

For a normal game, there should be about 1 mafia per four players. For every major character the innocents get, there should be either a minor character for the mafia or another team member. For every two minor characters for the innocents, the mafia should get a character or another member.

Major characters: Detective, Mayor, Don (as detective)
Minor Characters: doctor, vig, traitor, Don (as innocent)

I've also noticed that the mafia teams are waaaay too aggressive around here. ;) It's so cool being mafia that they have to play. That just makes it obvious.

I think the Don should come up as innoecent and the mafia should have one extra person.

I think there should be no after death posts and any that are posted are deleted ASAP.

I think on the first night, if the town votes to lynch NOBODY, then the mafia hit has a 50/50 chance of failing.

Wow, Mafia 5 is already over. I just skimmed sometimes, but it was a good game, and I agree that the Mafia should have more power. I may be busy and won't be able to post a whole lot, but I'll give Mafia 6 a try. Count me in, RB.

I think keeping the mafia at 3 votes is good idea, they already know who ppl are, anymore votes would be to much.

i agree they should hav another role to help em out or another player , cause thats 4 games to 1 in favor of town, it's obviously one sided.


sometype of role that has the ability to sabotage the town once a night, not a killing role but he can have one townie vote change, or maybe have them say a line he wrote. U can call it black mail. I really like the idea of the random message but didnt see it go into play.....so something like

Has the ability to black mail one townie every other night. Once black mailed townie has to say what the saboteur wants them to say without revealing they were made to say it.

LOL.. cool hint, but I pretty much watch TLC, History, Discovery etc..

BTW Bishop I'm In I won't be posting as much simply due to the fact of job issues. Also I think the 6pm or 5pm cut off is to hard to make for those of us who don't utilize a computer at work. So I think you should go with either 24 or 48 hour days. That first day I made it back to my machine with like 4 minutes to spare, I saw Joanders vote for me and thats all I had time to do was scan for votes and get my change within seconds of night happening.

I also think the mafia is handicapped in a way and need more positions. They either need a higher percentage of people or something like a snitch, traitor, In game 5 I put a tatoo artist that can infect people??? HMMMM

I'll also stay away from the stats since I think thats what got me killed... LOL and try to follow the lead that some of you guys do.. But just so you know I am more of a objective proof kind of person, not so much subjective.. I can't discount that type of philosophy but as momma always used to say the proof is in the puddin'..

That would be great.. I personally don't have a problem with the morning, and really didn't see anyone else have an issue with that time, but per some of my postings you know that it is really difficult to get home in time to be able to catch up. I appreciate the help and look forward to the new twists in the next game..

IMO I'd just go back to the 48 hour day/night cycle.... it does tend to drag a little, but rb explained his reasoning for the 5:00am start. With lots of folks saying that later evening cutoffs work better for them, I think the 48 hour would work best in allowing everyone who wants to post to post.

Yeah thats the one bad thing about this game. Once you are known as a good player the mafia wants to take you out power role or not and the innocents are going to investigate you to see if you're mafia.
