Thursday night the power went out in the living room, so I went out to the breaker box to see about flipping the expected tripped breaker. I don't find a tripped breaker. I find a breaker that has been pushed off out somehow. I pushed it back in and of course saw a spark. Thinking to myself not good.
I called my electrician when I got home today because my daughter told me the power had gone off and on four times during the night. To make a long story short, he and his son came out and looked it over and told me the bus was bad and that the box had to be replaced. About $850. I asked him if I could buy the parts so I could charge it and the price dropped a little bit for the labor to $400 + whatever I had to buy. I tell them to go ahead and plan to come out in the morning to fix it and they say they want to get started early when Home Depot opens like 6 am. I'm not a morning person, so I'm not liking this, but what can I do. I agree.
From the time they left until now the power has gone off and on at least twenty times, but only in the living room, my daughter's room, and my room. Sometimes the electric oven will show loss of power as well.
About an hour or so ago, I got to thinking, "Doh! I have a home warranty!" I call them and they put in an emergency service call. Still waiting to hear back and I'll still have to wake up at 5 to call my regular electrician, but it will only cost me $55 instead of $400 + parts! I'm so glad I just renewed that thing. This year it will pay off having it.
