Hey,
This may sound really ridiculous, but my mother and I were at the LFS the other day looking for some fish for my mothers new around 200 gallon pond. I've been keeping aquariums for awhile now but haven't a clue about anything with ponds. While in the fish store my mother saw a giant gourami. She became very attached to this fish and was looking into one for her pond. Though I know there not coldwater fish, is there any way possible to keep them in a pond? Is there like some way to keep them inside during the winter (illinois) or some kind kind of really powerful heater that will allow this fish to live in the pond? I really don't know the first thing of ponds so if there is any way possible to keep one of these in an outdoor pond plz tell me.
Thanks

Not in Illinois, NO. Florida maybe.

If you have a pond heater it might, but only in the summer. I have pacu in my pond.

I doubt you could find a pond heater that would do the job.
Besides, what's the point of having a huge (and it would have to be huge) empty tank inside that's fully cycled to allow the fish to come in for winter when you could just get the tank and put the fish in it forever! (Maybe this is the way to finally get that 300G you've been dreaming about ;) )
