Hi Guys
I have two mollies, both orange sailfin mollies. One is a male, another female.
The female just gave birth about 12 hours ago (cute little buggers, the babies).
I have noticed that within the last week or so that she was pregnant (and even now) that the whitish scales on her head have gotten mottled and this white spot seems to be getting larger.
It doesn't look like ich, it's not raised or sunken, and she had some of these whitish scales when she was purchased (looked like a birthmark of some sort kind of thing). Many in the tank from which she was purchased had similar markings on the head (the retailer is very reputable and didn't mention anything about any sickness). Her behaviour is fine. Very lively and eats like a horse (they all do, even the babies).
The water is 78-82 degrees, fully brackish and perfect PH, 35 gallon tank. NO other fish (I've had both fish for about a month now, cycling the tank for new fish in the future).
Any idea what this might be? Almost looks like the scales are drying up or getting wrinkled, if that's possible. Might she just be molting, or is this a problem?
