I hope to get some N. multies if i can ever find any around here. I also like L. ocellatus(sp?)"gold" , very nice color compared to the other mostly plain shell dwellers

I am really liking my multis. They are so cool. I love to watch them move sand from around the shells to get them where they want them. They also have a lot of attitude in a small package:D .

Personally, I think all shellies are cool, but my two favorites are N. brevis and N. multifasciatus.
Don't let anyone tell you all shellies act the same. Brevis and multis are so drastically different, and so are many of the other shellies.
They're way cool little fish.

by far the best is a lemon cichlid followed by a regans julie
Meleagris for me, followed by multi's.
Interesting that Tia mentioned lelupi as shellies....I have seen other slender neolamprologus listed as shell dwellers, but have never found much paper documentation to back it up. Of course, I never looked to hard either.

The reason i asked this is cause i dont know what kind to get. I like meleagris and ocellatus but i still dont know. So far it seems like multis are the main thing out there with brevis.

My multis are doing their own aquascaping! They kicked up so much sand around the intake to my penguin mini that it stuck and went off. They have a lot of muscle for such tiny little fish

Generally you wont see a shellie at a lfs. You usually have to order them online in most cases.

So does anyone have an online source for meleagris, occellatus and brevis? I can only ever find the multi's online when I go looking and even Aquabid usually only has multi's posted.
Thanks!
