Has anyone ever heard of a Moloto cichlid? I bought an African at the store last week that has the colors and beauty of a peacock, but according to the store it's called a Moloto (no additional name). I've tried to check it out online and haven't found anything. The fish is blue with a white crest on its head and running down its top fin.

this it?

A picture would definitely help in the identification.

Copadichromis mloto (usually spelled like that).

They're all Malawi haplochromines, hit about 6 inches, colour depends on the place of the lake its from (otter point, undu reef etc. there's five or six varieties that occur naturally I think) & breeding (there are captive strains not found in the lake)

Best kept in a large tank with other haplochromines. There's species profiles on www.cichlidforum.com ; but search for mloto not moloto.
