Parents and brother. There is only one Family, and that's immediate family. (to me)

Was the family closely connected to extended family? If so, which extended family members and in what ways?

At one point we were very close. But, through time, some people got jealous, others stopped talking to some, gossiped about others, and some relationships crumbeled. Blame always goes to the sister/brother in law. I don't believe that . The way I see it, it's hard to contradict your own family because they will take it as a personal insult. gets very delicate. When you start seeing and sometimes appreciating the different ways your gf/bf/wife/husband live their lives, it's hard make your own family understand those different perspectives of doing simple things in life.

Growing up, it was my mom and sisters and a stepdad. I am the eldest of 3 girls.

Yes, when married, no when divorced.

Mom.

Mom, during divorce, shared with step-dad when married.

At different periods of time. More conncected now that we are adults and a great deal of that is due to mom's efforts. She did make sure that my sisters and I had the sort of relationships that would last and we'd always have one another.

Mom, dad, younger brother. We all have good, healthy relationships

We did until my parents got divorced. Now me and my brother split time with my parents

Both of sides of my family are very close. I have known all but one of my great-grandparents. I see my great aunts and uncles, plus their children and grandchildren (2nd cousins?) probably once o twice a year. But I see all my aunts, uncles, and numerous cousins (all younger than me...) many times a year. Usually around holidays...

Was the family closely connected to extended family? If so, which extended family members and in what ways? Very close to both sets of grandparents. Mum had 3 brothers 1 sister so 12 cousins on that side, Dad had 2 brothers 2 sisters so 11 cousins that side. We see all these people at least twice a year and live near about one quarter of them so see them more regularly. We also have umpteen second cousins that we see say once a year. Family occasions = weddings, funerals, graduations, engagements, Xmas, Birthdays.

My children (one daughter from previous relationship, 2 sons from my first marriage) and my fiancee (not a biological father to the children - but the best dad they've ever known)

For the emotional well-being of the family?
All five of us are responsible and have an affect on all of OUR emotional well-being. As a family we support eachother, from the oldest of us to the youngest of us to the best of our ability. As the parents, we have a greater responsibility and scope - we support eachother as a couple and together/individually we support all three kids. The kids have a responsibility to support each other also. The 12 year old may only be able to offer support by listening to his 13 y.o. brother or by giving his 17 y.o. sister a hug, but the support is still there. They in turn support him.

I would have to say that we are not as close to extended family, mine especially. We have distanced ourselves from my extended family for the security/safety/emotional well being of "our" nuclear family. Currently contact is by phone and about twice a year we gather.
We are closer to his parents than anyother family members, but it is still not a close relationship. We see them about once a month and talk about as often, however we email quite a bit.

We are very connected to my husbands family, which includes 1 aunt, 2 uncles, 14 great aunts and great uncles, 2 grand parents and countless cousins. We see his immediate family every other month, and all the extended family several times a year. We see my mother about every 6 weeks, my father never once, my sister a couple of times a year, and brother once in 8 years.
