I picked this fish up about 2 mnths ago.there was no name tag and I thought it was a jaguar cichlid, but now I have my doubts.I have raised a jag before so I know what there about, this fish [looking at it fast ]looks like a jag,but its not.His colours are wild.blue fins with red dots, green around his face, copper on his gill plate,he is sexy. His appetite is awsome,I used to feed my jag giant danios for food and fun,he started eating them when he was about 7inches long, this fish is 3.5 inches and he is mashing these things up.Im thinking this is a wolf cichlid ,I hope he is ......what do you think ? pics are not the best, but something is better than nothing, cool.

If the second picture were clearere It might be easier to tell...can you get any more? I agree that its missing the horizontal bar of the dovii, which should be fairly pronounced even as a juvenile. Doesn't look like a managuense to me either.

My first thought was actually a dempsey, but the juvies should have the spot on the tail and the head shape doesn't look right.

It looks like this cichlid i saw at petsmart today, i forgot the name of it, but it looks exactly the same. it has the word "red" in the name and no folks not a red devil. i wish i could remember the fishes name, i wanted to get one but they wanted $25.00 for them.

actually to me, it looks like a male jewel, that hasn't quite got his color! But thats my opinion.
\He looks exactly like my male after water changes, esp. in the second pic, mine has the speckles like yours does in the first pic, he usually has a blueish tint to him under the fluorescents.

Well he might not be a dovii. However, he is definately from that family. :) :)
He looks absolutely gorgeous.
