not necessarily, not in the least. in fact , unless they are ready to breed, they will most likely fight just as if it was 2 males.

the female isnt ready to breed unless she has vertical stripes. if she has horizontal stripes, then she is under stress and is scared.
best not to put them together. theyll kill each other:)

Welcome to the site, and the only time to have a female and male betta together is when they are ready to mate....ask Kyohti also...

i put them in a divider before then the male(penguinfish)tried to get in her side evan more and i'm sure he isn't flaring.
