My goldfish which used to be very active is now just floating around alot. He still swims around enough and is still eating so I dont think he's sick. I was wondering if they usually tend to slow down as they age and get bigger?

How big is the tank. What else is in there?

its in a 10 gallon tank by itself. He is my first fish so I've been hesitant to put anything else in there. What do you think?

Are there any markings on the fish like red spots... or tiny white dots that look like salt?

that tank is way too small.
How long has he been in there?
what are your ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and ph readings?
how often do you do water changes? and how much water to you take out?
you should be doing at least daily 25% changes.

No. He looks ok. He has gotten slightly bigger since I got him. Do you think hes getting lazy? lol

I'm not sure about the nitrates and ph. Are there any vitamins or something I can give it that is just for goldfish?

I had two goldfish once and they were always active... even when they got 2-3" so I don't really know what's the matter with your fish.

how long has he been in there?
how often are your WC's?
what is you ammonia readings?

he has probably got ammonia poisoning and/or he's getting sick and stunted.

goldfish(fancies) can live 10+ years. comets can live 25+ years.
