My goldfish has like a clear stringy substance trailing on the back of him. Almost looks like spider-webbish. Any info?

Any chance you can post a picture?
Where is it coming from? Could it be feces?

sounds to me like it could be his slime coat. That's not a good situation.
^ yup...does not sound good...are we talking about faeces or something off his body ?
A good quality pic would help.
What's your water reading for ammonia, nitrite, nitrate; also what size tank and what's in there ?
