alright i have a few chemicals and for those of u that dont know what my tank has its in my signature and by now most of u know me and my tank so im gonna list them and if u can tell me if i need em, if i will need them, & if i should even bother wasting the space....all of these execept for one of them were free so thats why i have em all....

1.Ammonia detox

2.Coral`Accel

3.Essential Elements

4.Phytoplex

5.Pro`Buffer dKH

(all are by kent marine)

well the two ones i was considering was the trace elements cause it has stuff that you dont have from the ocean i gues and the Pro`Buffer dKH cause it has coralline accelerator in it....but neone else that has a thought on it plz let me knwo

A good salt mix will provide the elements you need. If you do decide to add anything be sure to have a test kit for it so you be sure you're not overdosing. The tricky thing about chemicals is that once you start you can get in a vicious cycle and end up with a chemical dependent tank.

I would only use Pro-Buffer dKH until it is empty, then just go with baking soda. It is only used to boost your alkalinity, so you shouldn't use it unless you have tested your alkalinity and shown that it needs it--the same applies to baking soda. I would skip out on the Essential Elements as well. Like Grins said, most salt mixes have more than you or your corals/fish will ever need (and then some).

I fell into that trap. I purchased the two kent starter packs. Marine starter and Reef starter.
Ammonia detox, pro buffer, essential ellements, ioidine, molybendum/strontum........

I did use some, but now I just use the ph buffer and relying on good Red ses coral salt and weekly water changes for my trace elements.
