I am debating between a 240 and 180. I would like the 240, but want to see if the 180 would work. Dimensions of 180, 72x24x25

I will have more than capable equipment, but would this fish list work?

Lyretail Anthias 1 m 8 f
Atlantic Blue Tang Group
Blue Hippo 1
Naso Tang 1
White Cheek Surgeon 1
Banggai Cardinal 1
Neon Goby Pair
Ocellaris Clowns Pair
Royal Gramma 1

Thanks

as you can see I have the similar fish in a 240 and I believe the even THIS is too small of a tank. I would go with the 240.

By a group I was thinking 3. I had read in the book by, Scott W Michael they were ok to keep in groups in larger tanks.

Here is another far fetched question. I am thinking about setting up a 75 gallon, and in about 2 years when I can finish my basement switch everything in the 75 to a 240.

Would I be able to keep my list, planning on getting them rather small and switching them in 1 1/2-2 years? If not what would you suggest?

Thanks again everyone, I appreciate all the replies.

I definitely wouldn't keep the same list for a 75G- especially with 5 Tangs, besides the fact one can never know what will happen in 2 years. Others might think differently though.

What would work for the 75 short term (2 years)

I was thinking, remove the Naso and Atlantic Blue trio.

Would that be alright or still trouble?

Thanks again.

You could get away with a yellow or purple tang in the 75 but I'd not add them until you get the larger tank since you're wanting other tangs as well.

You could do the anthias in a 6' tank, the cardinal bangs but they'll do better in a group, the neon gobies, the clown pair, the royal gramma.

Well I think I have decided on a 180.

The dimensions, 72x18x31

Fish list look ok for this? If I need to make some removals, what would you suggest instead.

You could maybe get away with 3 tangs in the 180. But introduce them all at once and get the less territorial ones. You'd be fine on other species but I'd not do all of them. Perhaps you should prioritize what you want, maybe your showpiece fish and then decide on the rest of the list.
