Is Quikcrete playsand safe for oscars? Will it affect the PH?
quickcrete POTENTIALLY has non sterilized additives in it. Goto Home Depot and look for anything screened and sterilized, that should work for you.
In the saltwater world, I normally tell pople to get Southdown or Old Castle brand if you can, cuz it is an aragonite based sand and it will help the chemistry of your tank.
However in your freshwater case, I'd tell you to avoid those and anything else that says "tropical" playsand. Unless yer in the north east, this shouldn't be a problem as the rest of the country doesn't TYPICALLY get those brands. I wish we did though =(
