Summer is coming to a close and I'd like to run one more before the end. As has been said, I'm getting too wound up in the action, time for me to referee.

I promise that this game will be totally different from the previous ones...

Following rb's example, I will make the story line considerably more interesting with some flavor.

Looking for at least 16 (preferably 20+) weirdos who like this stuff.

Game will start after mafia 6 finishes...

(on a side note, i am 100% sure i know who two mafias are. . . if i were in game 6 i would be cutting them down right now. the tension is unbearable.)

I'm in, after getting ousted I had time to do some football research.

I sent Rb some suggestions I'll just post them and if you like them throw them in. I agreed to Mod game 9.

Here are my suggestions..

Bring back the botched hit/lynch.

When the Dr saves a player from lynching the 2nd highest vote getter is lynched. That way votes aren't really wasted. We still find something out and might cause the mafia to rethink strategies. OR the Dr can't stop lynchings

Seance- Depending on the number of players- when 1/3 of the innocents are dead there is a seance in which the dead townies PM the Mod a list of possible mafia. Mod then PMs the lists to the townies. Mafia never see the lists.

Don doesn't show as innocent unless he is one of the secret idenities

If there is no mayor, then if the Det investigates and finds the Vig then the Vig can also investigate.

If a player posts that they quit they die on the spot.

I can't.. I wish I could, but I can't.. I stated when I left because it wasn't fun.. And it wasn't probably not for the reason you think. Last game caused a HUGE rift in the relationship... I can still post on the forum because I can write it off as learning about my fish/tank newbie questions etc. But the game was taking way to much time and she got, well upset is an understatement.. I am still not understanding completely but for the sake of peace I said I would quit. I tried to help as much as I could before I "died" but... Well...

Now basically the only time I can get on here is when she isn't around or I can convince her it has nothing to do with the game.. In fact she has been reading over my shoulder several times just to make sure I wasn't reading. (Does it sound like I'm hooked???? :) ) This weekend she's at her moms so I'm safe.. I get a little while after work or supper and maybe before bed or if she is alseep.. This last game was just to much reading, to much time on the computer and not enough time paying attention to what she needed done etc etc etc...

Anyway good luck to all. I'm glad this thread came up so I could actually clear why I left.

I would also caution again about taking it to seriously and causing folks to just quit based on relentless attacks that end up going personal.

I like small amounts of roll play, it eases the tension sometimes.

Maybe instead of a botched hit night one, the Townies vote to have the identity revealed on one person....?? (provided it doesn't reveal special roles...?0

Glad to hear I'm not the only one catching flack on the homefront for 'always being on the computer...'

Thing is, not only does the game take a lot of time on the computer, it takes up a lot of my brain capacity when I'm not on the thread. I had planned to take a break between waves again just to clear my brain, but I've been waiting for the werewolf game, so I'm in.

It's really important that the people signing up kind of treat the game as a commitment. The number of baddies assigned depends on the overall number of folks signing up for the game. When folks drop out, it's usually the townies who suffer....

or someone is secretly tapped to change sides, like a mafia member suddenly feels guilt and becomes an innocent, or an innocent is lured by the power of the mafia and joins ranks. the mafia will know when a member is added, but other than that no one will know but that individual. anyone who leaves the mafia will no longer be able to PM mafia members. maybe it won't work because then that person will know all of the mafia, but by that time in the game it might be too late anyway, and then you still have to get people to believe you. . . .

The year is 1238. The location is a small village about 75 miles from Wroclaw in the High Tatras mountains. It is basic living at its finest. In fact, there is no leader of the small community, which is more a collection of huts near the fields, than a town.

The entire town can gather for any important decision. And they will need that solidarity soon. Word has come from a traveling merchant that a nearby village has been wiped out. He traveled through a week ago and there was no one anywhere. The only thing he saw were what appeared to be claw marks in some of the doors.

A small group of the Barons' Men have come to this small village with word that werewolves have been spotted within the barony and they will try to help if they can.

One night of a full moon, both of the town's bulls and all three of the Men's horses were slaughtered. The town's hunter found giant wolf tracks... even inside the tiny stables.

But the tracks did not lead away from the town. He followed them to the center of town, where they became the tracks of men and disappeared quickly.

Your town has been invaded by werewolves. You must find and destroy them.

Its not fair to those in game 6 to have to cover both games. They finally have it turned around and made a game of it. To try and cover both will confuse them.

Besides this extra time gives me more time to look at football drafts and to determine how switching teams will effect a players worth.

Gotta admit, this is the cheapest hobby, well reading is pretty cheap too since I use the library and internet =)

ROFL. My hubby is Pretty understanding...he's been playing LoTRO, Sacred and watching movies. I kept trying to play with him, but I'd get dizzy, need a break to go lay down, and so we figured it's best for us to do our own things until I get better. I'll have to get back to playing with him again soon, but I'd still be able to dedicate time to play these games cause he likes to play his games alone sometimes too =) We're both computer game addicts, just he is getting jealous of not having his partner in monster slaying hehe.

ogre i dont mean to pester you but could you post a list of the players who will be involved in werewolf game 1? and how many special roles there will be? i'm gonna try to make a spreadsheet to help me this game but admit im not good at that sort of thing and will probably go with the old paper and pencil (remeber those?). i think i remember Z mentioning he uses a computer spreadsheet for his lists and that seems to work pretty well for him. i wonder if anyone else would share there ideas on how best to keep track of things or maybe share how they score their lists? much appreciated!! by the way ogre thanks for moderating werewolf game, i know you are very busy but have sacrificed some of your time (alot no doubt) for us and i speak for everybody when i say we appreciate your efforts. personally i hope you will not write clues into your night time narrations as i feel it is the moderators role to simply moderate, not lead the mafia or the townies around by the hand with clues. doing so, IMHO, changes you from moderator of the game into a participant of the game. no offence meant to anyone by that last statement.

OK, here's the current list of players. Anyone wishing to back out may do so... there are 19 players and I think that's a good number for what I have intended here...

I'll create a waiting list and anyone who chooses to drop before the game begins or decides to quit during the first day or so of the game, I will allow a replacement... any special role goes to the replacement. I know that will throw everyone off a little bit, but I've thought about this carefully and run a few models... everyone needs a full compliment...

OK, to whet everyone's appetitie... I was going to save this, but I'll let everyone kind of discuss possible ideas, strategies, etc with each other and the newbies... I may post a few myself ;)

The roles:

You are a villager. You are afraid of the wolves, but realize that you, as a group can overcome them. They are vulnerable in their human form and the town, each day will vote to lynch someone. Hopefully, you lynch a wolf.

You are the priest. Each night, you may pray for the safe delivery of a fellow villager. Your faith is such that your chosen diety will prevent that villager from being killed or turned by the forces of darkness. However, the saints will not protect from human actions (i.e. lynching or the hunter). You are selfless and will not be able to pray for yourself.

You are the Seer. Each night you may use candles, the bones of small animals, and various rituals to consult with the spirits to find evil in your village. The information you are provided only indicates the presence or absence of evil. Nothing more specific.

You are the hunter. Long ago, your grandfather told tales of a similar event in this very same village. After the villagers' victory, he crafted a single silver arrow. You may fire this arrow one time. It is however still an arrow and your skill will ensure the death of whomever it hits, hopefully a wolf.

You are a Man-at-Arms. You are a small group of the Baron's men are assigned to protect this tiny village. Your fellow men-at-arms are XXX, etc. You and they are not werewolves and you may communicate outside of the thread with these individuals.

You are a werewolf. You are a force of darkness that delites in the stalk and the kill. Your fellow wolfs are XXX, etc. You may communicate outside of the thread with these individuals. Each night of the full moon, you will decide on a villager to stalk and kill. If the Alpha Wolf is killed, there will be a 25% chance each night, that one of you will become the new Alpha.

You are the Alpha Wolf. You are the leader of this group of werewolves. Your fellow wolves are XXX, etc. You may communicate outside of the thread with these individuals. Each night of the full moon, you will decide on a villager to stalk and kill. In addition, if you live, but the rest of your packs drops below a certain level, you have a 50% chance of turning the villager you attack and making them a werewolf (who now works for you and may not communicate this fact to anyone else).

having a backup list of players is a great idea as nothing irks me more than when someone quits. extrodinary events not withstanding, i agree with mad when he says it should be viewed as a comittment and quitting only makes the town suffer. hell i was mafia this game and wanted to pull out my hair when dp quit cause there were "too many posts" and she was helping me and hurting the town. i agree with ice when he said anyone threatening to quit should die the minute they post it. its not fair to the townies who already have a tough week ahead of them. Quitting places a greater burden on the rest of the innocents involved and taints the result of this little "social experiment" just my two cents.

Madcrawdad (still referring to myself in 3rd person, Ogre) will be invisible for the entire game....I personally recommend that everyone consider going invisible, as it will save any innocents the hassle of hearing 'So and so has been viewing the thread all day and hasn't said anything....they must be werewolves.'

i think that we shouldnt start this yet, as its hell for me to follow one game, never mind 2. But i think you should start to think about roles, and maybe even send them out. That way people have a little bit of time to think about what they are, and think about how they are going to play.

after watching the townies rip each other apart in the first two days of M6, my plan is going to be simple. hide in my hut, and pray to the gods or gods of this villiage to keep me safe from the lies and/or accusations of my neighbors. i have a feeling its going to be a little like salem in the early days. "i dreamt zsandman was a wolf" or "i saw mee mee and some other wolves conspiring by a cauldron near the coffee hut" ought to do nicely if i'm a wolf. if i'm innocent you are apt to hear plea's of "please dont do this i have a family" or "your making a terrible mistake". may the god or gods of this village bless us all. well, almost all. now back to your regularly scheduled programming...

mike you should change your status to invisible. in my first game i was innocent but someone noticed i didnt post (got busy and couldn't) and said, "look charlie didnt post he must be mafia." i wasn't, but suspicion never went away. i would follow mad's suggestion, go invisible and announce you will be posting from invisible throughout the game, as i sure you learned last game people get jumpy when evil is about, and will look for reasons to blame you.
