We've seen this thing in our tank a few times and I'm going to try to get a pic of it tonight but I thought maybe someone might know just by the descripton.
We're pretty sure that it's a type of snail. At first, we thought it was a cowrie but we've since found the cowrie that we purchased and they're not similar at all. This looks almost like a stomatella snail, only bigger. It has a split foot, and it's shell looks almost fuzzy. It's pretty fast for being a snail and we only ever see it at night. We haven't seen it near any of the corals and it mainly stays on the tonga branches.
We're setting up our 12g again today so we may take him out until we can ID him.

Thanks for any help you might have.

How much bigger? I've seen some fairly large stomatellas.

ok, after talking to dh, it's a lot more dome shaped than a stomatella and apparently it has a white "Y" down the middle of it's shell. It's about an inch long and about 3 inches around.

I'll try to get a pic tonight and post it tomorrow.
