Today at the pet store I went to buy some danios and a rainbowshark but they had something similar that looked just like them but they were called blue white fin sharks. They are identical to Rainbows but with a blue body and white fins. Is this a dyed rainbow? Or a different species?

May be an off breed, or a hybred of it.
Interesting. I've never seen that before. Any pictures?

forgot to take off flash on that one ^ sometimes you can see a litle bit of red in his fins which makes me wonder if these fish are altered cause you can see the natural red that comes out in a normal rainbow shark.

thats what I was saying when i pointed at it. it was the smallest one in the tank and looked the least healthy but i wanted to help it and let it grow. The lady corrected me and said it was healthy it had just jumped tanks and sure enough the mysterious white fin blue sharks were right next to the rainbows. He is relaxed now. He has made friends with the Chinese Algae eater.

Hello. The white fin rainbow shark is just a different variation of your typical rainbow (with red fins) Kind of like the albino rainbow, it is just a variation, not a new species or sick or otherwise. Breeders today are looking to alter some fish. For example, the "glowing" zebra danios. They are the same species, just altered. Not injected with dye, but genetically altered. So nothing to worry about with your white fin. I have one myself :)
