Hi,

I am in the process of setting up my first salterwater tank. While waiting for my tank to go through its cycle, I have been trying to identify some of it's inhabitants.

This guy just popped up on a piece of dead coral a few days ago. He looks like a red anemone with white tips on his tentacles. A good friend of mine thinks it might be a majano.

Thanks for the help,
Wayne

Doesn't look like a manjano to me. In fact it kinda looks like a mushroom. Hard to tell though. Does it have a stalk of any sort?

I would have said mushroom as well....ricordea in fact.

Yep...and I'm highly jealous of it.

Nice looking hitchhiker. Hopefully it'll grow and multiply for you.

I'm jealous. Wish i had some hitchikers like that. From looking at your pics and some others on the net, I would say Ricordea as well.

I'll laugh if this thing grows into a giant carpet anemone and swallows every fish it sees. Not at you or the sadness, but at us all thinking it is a ricordea.

He could sell it for a pretty penny

Thanks for the help. I do hope that it is a Ricordea and not a pest anemone because I have become somewhat attached to it at this point.

I feed it bits of shrimp every day and it seems to be growing pretty well.
