Ok, I have an Idea, although I'm sure someone has already thought about it, and/or it's probably manufactured, but let me get some input.
I thought about completely sealing off an air pump with silicone, any place with a crevice, seal it. Then when i'm cycling a tank, instead of running a hose and all, just put it in the tank as is. (On a GFI or course.) If that isn't a good reason to make it, then nevermind it, but about the Idea, has anyone tried it, seen it, heard of it? Input plz, don't stunt my creative growth...

Why an air pump? Why not just use a filter that's already in use from another tank?

? Oh! Not really for Cycling purposes. Just because I think it could lead to options, like not having air hoses hanging here and there, but just a power cord, I've noticed sometimes it's harder to keep my air tubes in order than it is any electrical cords.

Nevermind, I just realized it would never work, I feel like an idiot...

Are you talking about an air pump for an air stone (or something like that)?

lol...you're right, wouldn't work. It would need air to pump. :)

LOL... yep. I suppose it would.

No good from a safety standpoint and a powerhead will serve better..

i dont run air pumps in my tanks. so would never have to worry about it.... still not sure why you want it under water.

you could sit the pump under water and run a snorkel up to the surface!!

hehehehe. maybe an itty bitty regulated air tank underwater? high maintenance though :p

Take apart your basic Air pump, and you'll see how dumb the Idea is. It was a complete wash, and I want to rid myself of it.

most people would want less in there tank. thats just taking up water volume.

Yep, It was going to be more of a gateway Idea, as apposed to an end result. Either way, it's completely obsurd, an airpump gets the air from a little hole in the bottom, mine would have been surrounded by water, therefore, pumping water(theoreticly, not to mention it would short out immediatly when the water hit the inside of the pump.

have you thought about just ditching it? if your running a hob you prob dont need it.

... I don't think I even understand what's going on around me... An Airpump(for airstones, and things) as you know, is in no way a filter. In nearly every post, I've said, It's a dumb Idea that doesn't make any sense.

I think that you are just screwing with me...lol

well if its a sponge filter then yes it can be a filter. other then that its prob really not needed. the hob filters provide plenty of surface agitation.

i have 0 air pumps running on my systems.

the only reason I have an air pump is to create some turbulance when breaking in new tanks... seems like i've been doing a lot of that lately.

they're so loud, and in a small tank, create so much chaos... I can't say I like them much. maybe if it had a regulator...
