Hi, I am looking for a good background type plant for my 38gallon planted tank. Something that grows fairly quickly and tall. I had water sprite but I am tired of it taking over the entire back of the tank.
I have 3 wpg light and around 15-20 ppm CO2. I fertilize with NO3, K+, and flourish.
What do you suggest?
Thanks

There are species of val that would do great in there, and grow to be very long and tall. Certain types will twist in the right conditions--a cool look.
Other options--pennywort, anachris, rotalia indicus.

OrionGirl - Excellent choice!
The Vals do work great for that and can grow fast.. The broader leaf species especially! Corkscrew and Contortion Vals seem slower growing, but look 'cool'... :)

I think a dark green Cabomba would contrast nicely with the sprite in both color and leaf form.
Hygrophilia or Sunset Hygro would also look nice but can tend to get bushy and needs trimming like the sprite.
One of my favorite background plants is Limnophila. It wouldn't contrast well with the sprite but if you wanted to replace it I think it would be good choice.

I like the hygrophila corymbrosa "angustifolia" it's tall (25-60cm) it's bushy (20-35+cm) it grows fast in any water conditions and it looks great in the corners looks good with gaint vals too.

don't do hornwort, it will take over! I like anacharis, but I used criniums (dwarf onions). I have some leaves that are 4 feet long now. Very easy, and moderate to low light.

Crispus would also look good!
I think there are a couple varieties of Crispus.
