I figured I would be nice to my cichlids and give them alittle more variety in their diet. I currently feed them Nutrafin basix Floating Cichlid Pellets, Wardley Floating Cichlids Pellets, Omega One freshwater flakes and spinach on occasion. I give them a good mix. During my last visit to the fish store I picked out some Omega One Super Color Pellets... and my fish refuse to eat them. I pick up the container and the fish get all excited then i pour it into the tank and they go one as if there is no food in there... but once I take it out and put anything else in they eat like mad... anyone else have trouble getting their cichlids to eat this stuff?
Im thinking maybe I got a bad batch perhaps, just seems really weird to me.

Well ive never used omega products, wardley is the cheap stuff. I use HBH Super Soft Pellets, and my fish rip into them, and they have grown a lot since ive started using the HBH stuff. I also use the cichlid stix, and they love them also.

If you're looking for some QUALITY cichlid food in bulk, then your best choice in my opinion is CICHLID SELECT made by goldfishconnection.
I dont want to sound like a salesman or anything, but this has to be one of the best cichlid foods I have ever used; its better than hikari, IMO.
Heres the link to the website if you're interested; http://www.goldfishconnection.com/shop/details.php?productId=106&catId=14

Very weird that mine refuse to eat them... I could see if it was 1 or 2, maybe even 5 refusing.. but I have nearly 40 in the tank... and the best a get is a couple swimming to the top to check it out then retreating away empty mouthed. I guess they will have to get by on the other food I offer them, which they seem to throughly enjoy. I don;t do the flakes too much because the fish are nearly all full grown and there flakes are generally gone before they hit the water, but its a good treat.

Does it smell off? By some fluke the pellets could be rancid, perhaps.

I feed my convicts, parrots, JD's, and Fronts on Omega One and Omega One Super colour. Everyone loves it except my male con. He's a picky eater.

What if you didn't feed them for like two days (sounds mean but they can go a while without eating...mine went without food for 2 weeks!) and then put those pellets or whatever they were in??? Maybe then they'd be hungry enough and they'd eat whatever falls into the water.... you could also try "Garlic Guard" or "Entice" by SeaChem (makers of Prime, Flourish Excel, etc.). I have used Garlic Guard before to get my picky eaters to eat and it worked...well atleast for me it did! I would definetly try not feeding them for 2 or 3 days and then put those pellets in before you go out and spend money on the garlic guard or entice. Just my opinion! Heres the sight just incase you're interested!
